In the 9th minute, Edvaldo de Toledo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Blumenau Esporte Clube's Caco Azevedo threw himself towards the right post 12 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Bin Shevchenko, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Edvaldo de Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 15 minutes into the match, Ryszard Iwanowski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luiz Fábio Leite. Blumenau Esporte Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ryszard Iwanowski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ryszard Iwanowski in the 22nd minute of play forced Blumenau Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Luiz Fábio Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25thth minute of the game Ryszard Iwanowski who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Blumenau Esporte Clube's Luiz Fábio Leite was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Murilo Prestes in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luiz Fábio Leite saved Blumenau Esporte Clube from getting behind. In the 33rd match minute, SORRISO E. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvério Abraão to maneuver through the defense. When Nildo Dantas came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Blumenau Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nildo Dantas couldn't finish the play. After the first half SORRISO E. C. were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bin Shevchenko to strike the kick off in the second half. Luiz Fábio Leite took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Murilo Prestes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bin Shevchenko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Caco Azevedo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Caco Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bin Shevchenko in the 55th minute of play. Blumenau Esporte Clube's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Nildo Dantas in the 56th minute. C.'s goalkeeper Caco Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Caco Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bin Shevchenko, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bin Shevchenko in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Caco Azevedo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bin Shevchenko scored 1-1 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Caco Azevedo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. SORRISO E. C.'s Caco Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bin Shevchenko in the 76th minute of play. Caco Azevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bin Shevchenko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, SORRISO E. C.'s Natanael de Medeiros got a free kick in the 79th minute. Luiz Fábio Leite made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ryszard Iwanowski in the 84th minute. Murilo Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Luiz Fábio Leite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 90 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for SORRISO E. C.! Caco Azevedo had in the 91stth minute some difficulties stopping Xandinho Sharkin's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. SORRISO E. C.'s Caco Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bin Shevchenko in the 92nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Blumenau Esporte Clube's Nildo Dantas got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Caco Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bin Shevchenko in the 98th minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
