Cris Montoia was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Protegéerna's Bolo Skjold proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Protegéerna from getting a goal against them. 25 minutes into the match, Protegéerna's goal looked a bit too open when Gürol Atasan came free, but Bolo Skjold reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pål Sefastsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jakob Lundin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pål Sefastsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petter Skarkman in the 37th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Protegéerna were awarded a corner in the 85th minute after National Team Cape-Verde's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Michael Näver took the corner. Michael Näver made a great header on Protegéerna's corner, it was just that National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson managed to reach the ball for a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Alberto Tevez in the 87th minute of play forced Protegéerna's goalkeeper Bolo Skjold to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bolo Skjold prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A nice corner shot did that Leon Fasgar got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Bolo Skjold quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Protegéerna walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
