Thanks to some nice moves Martín Ulloa could shoot a difficult shot in the 13th minute, which Bieito Luzuriaga however easily saved by the left post. In the 15th minute of the match ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ got a corner. ALIANZA 1901's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Giancarlo Mora ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Giancarlo Mora almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but ALIANZA 1901's Bieito Luzuriaga did a great save. A collision led to ALIANZA 1901 getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Pancho Tabernilla hit a great ball. Bieito Luzuriaga was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Giancarlo Mora. In the 22nd minute ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ were awarded a corner. Giancarlo Mora went to the cornerflag to take it. Bieito Luzuriaga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Humberto Escobar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The ALIANZA 1901 fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when ALIANZA 1901's Luis Escobar looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Bieito Luzuriaga stood somewhat misplaced when Humberto Escobar came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 30 minute. Juan Benavides took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Tomasini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Juan Benavides didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alfredo Tomasini went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. In the 36th minute, Martín Ulloa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bieito Luzuriaga was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Guillermo Escalona during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some careless play in the ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ defense, Luis Escobar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juan Benavides. The ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juan Benavides should have stopped the shot. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Humberto Escobar made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Guillermo Escalona managed to get in a good position for a shot. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s supporters rose to their feet, but Guillermo Escalona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bieito Luzuriaga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Juan Benavides played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Tomasini in the 55th minute of play. Bieito Luzuriaga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Escobar, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Bieito Luzuriaga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Escobar, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute.
