In the 27th minute Igor Milko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Glenn Fyfe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Ukraine's Vitaliy Vischak got control of the ball when Ervigio Ojeda tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Ervigio Ojeda made the kick off in the second half. It was a well-played corner which Rogelio Mendiola managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Vitaliy Vischak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafael Maria Píriz in the 62nd minute of the match. Glenn Fyfe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Igor Milko in the 65th minute. Vitaliy Vischak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Maria Píriz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ukraine's goalkeeper Vitaliy Vischak, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rafael Maria Píriz in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vitaliy Vischak prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Vitaliy Vischak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Maria Píriz, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Ukraine's Vitaliy Vischak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Maiz in the 89th minute of play. Rafael Maria Píriz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vitaliy Vischak having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nazariy Bogdaniv during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Chile booed when Ukraine was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nazariy Bogdaniv didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ukraine's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
