After a rather tough play, Hurricanes FC's 王亦俊 got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Diego Maradona took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Irvin Willoughby. Irvin Willoughby dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Richarlison de Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Óscar Cordoba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 18 minutes into the game, Matias Bilintx cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Irvin Willoughby was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 21 minutes into the match, Hurricanes FC's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Maradona came free, but Irvin Willoughby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when 王亦俊 got free with Óscar Cordoba in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sporting de Gijón's defense didn't have a chance, in the 30th minute, when Saverio Niva scored to the left of an out of position Óscar Cordoba, making the score, 1-2. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Hurricanes FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saverio Niva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Diego Maradona took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Irvin Willoughby. Irvin Willoughby dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. In the 37th minute, Matias Bilintx left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting de Gijón fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Matias Bilintx put it in 1-5 from a short distance just to the right of Irvin Willoughby. After some careless play in the Hurricanes FC defense, Diego Maradona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Irvin Willoughby. The Hurricanes FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Irvin Willoughby should have stopped the shot. After the first half Sporting de Gijón were leading 1-6. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and 王亦俊 made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Hurricanes FC's goal looked a bit too open when Eustacio Loiola came free, but Irvin Willoughby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 54 minutes into the match, Matias Bilintx notched a goal, 1-7, to the right of Hurricanes FC's Irvin Willoughby. Irvin Willoughby was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With his leg Irvin Willoughby managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Romain Corcoran's late challenge caught a Sporting de Gijón's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Romain Corcoran helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Hurricanes FC's Romain Corcoran got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Sporting de Gijón's Venancio Emesto was substituted for Alejandro Rufo. In the 64th minute Diego Maradona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Irvin Willoughby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Hurricanes FC's Barthélémy Battle got a free kick in the 67th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matias Bilintx got free with Irvin Willoughby in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hurricanes FC's Irvin Willoughby proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Hurricanes FC from getting a goal against them. Óscar Cordoba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richarlison de Andrade in the 70th minute of the match. 72 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sporting de Gijón's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alain Lunsford was slow to take the kick. During this time Hurricanes FC's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Hurricanes FC's corner Alain Lunsford fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Óscar Cordoba quite easily take care of the ball. Diego Maradona could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Irvin Willoughby made a huge save. 75 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Sherman Friedman came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Irvin Willoughby showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Maradona in the 78th minute of the match. Irvin Willoughby took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Maradona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Through an outstanding action, after 81 minutes, Irvin Willoughby successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 84 played minutes Hurricanes FC got a freekick which was hit by Barthélémy Battle. Barthélémy Battle hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. 90 minutes into the match, Hurricanes FC's goalkeeper Irvin Willoughby had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Venancio Emesto. Matias Bilintx might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Irvin Willoughby. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Matias Bilintx ran back to his position shaking his head. 93 minutes into the match, Venancio Emesto notched a goal, 1-8, to the right of Hurricanes FC's Irvin Willoughby. Irvin Willoughby was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sporting de Gijón's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
