The audience thought a goal was coming when Torrey Molloy got free with Serafin Bernal in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 11 minutes into the match, Rigoberto Argider notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Brujas KV's Jean-Marie Pfaff. Jean-Marie Pfaff was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 18 minutes into the match, Brujas KV's goal looked a bit too open when Rigoberto Argider came free, but Jean-Marie Pfaff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jean-Marie Pfaff showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Verner Nordin in the 19th minute of the match. Rigoberto Argider's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jean-Marie Pfaff read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. In the 24th minute Rigoberto Argider shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jean-Marie Pfaff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Torrey Molloy was the one to do the kick off. The Talleres de Escalada fans' excitement grew in the 51st match minute when Talleres de Escalada's Rigoberto Argider looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. But to his dismay, Verner Nordin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6.
