The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Raul Mingo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teobaldo Milian in the 3rd minute of play. When Angelino Esiquio came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the ALEXANDRIA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angelino Esiquio couldn't finish the play. If Angelino Esiquio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aquiles Oihenarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leon Turi in the 10th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Teobaldo Milian in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Raul Mingo saved ALEXANDRIA from getting behind. Rene Luzea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Raul Mingo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 17 played minutes Club Atlético Atlanta got a freekick which was hit by Salvador Honesto. Leon Turi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Angelino Esiquio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aquiles Oihenarte having to interfere. After 25 minutes, Leonides Emeterio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ALEXANDRIA and the Club Atlético Atlanta players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 25th match minute, ALEXANDRIA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonides Emeterio to maneuver through the defense. Pedro Rojelio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Anacleto Admon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Raul Mingo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 48th match minute, Club Atlético Atlanta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabian Guter to maneuver through the defense. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adrian Clemencin during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 80th minute, Anacleto Admon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Club Atlético Atlanta would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
