The Deportivo Galicia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dong should have stopped the shot. Nelson Haedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Club Olimpia booed when Deportivo Galicia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Romo didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nelson Haedo in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dong saved Deportivo Galicia from getting behind. Dong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelson Haedo in the 25th minute of play. Alfredo Aguilar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonel Mesquita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Deportivo Galicia were awarded a corner in the 28th minute after Club Olimpia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sven-Åke Granberg took the corner. After taking down the ball on Deportivo Galicia's corner Sven-Åke Granberg fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Alfredo Aguilar quite easily take care of the ball. Leonel Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Deportivo Galicia getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Kryspin Kalinowski hit a great ball. Alfredo Aguilar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Åke Granberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Club Olimpia's Maxime Van Brusselen got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 44th minute, Leonel Mesquita reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alfredo Aguilar. The goal made the score 1-1. Dong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelson Haedo in the 47th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nelson Haedo was the one to do the kick off. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Nelson Haedo took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Dong to make any attempt to save it. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Club Olimpia walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
