Villa Mitre City's Ariel Ponc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Atilano Quinten in the 20th minute of play. In the 21st minute Atilano Quinten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ariel Ponc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomáš Kožený in the 22nd minute of play forced Villa Mitre City's goalkeeper Ariel Ponc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by Villa Mitre City's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomáš Kožený was slow to take the kick. During this time Los Delfines's players had a chance to rest. Arquímedes Cesario was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Ariel Ponc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomáš Kožený, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Atilano Quinten in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ariel Ponc prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 47th minute, Saturnino Lehior ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Matías Patrone was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Villa Mitre City made a substitution. Imam Sarwono replaced Saturnino Lehior. Villa Mitre City's Mauricio Macías was substituted for Arsenio Maria. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Feliciano Fernendo to strike the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the match, Los Delfines's Oliver Bierhoff sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ariel Ponc narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 59 minutes of play, Los Delfines's Oliver Bierhoff made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ariel Ponc was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ariel Ponc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oliver Bierhoff, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Los Delfines were awarded a corner in the 63th minute after Villa Mitre City's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Oliver Bierhoff took the corner. The corner ended in Oliver Bierhoff almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Villa Mitre City's Ariel Ponc did a great save. Through an outstanding action, after 65 minutes, Ariel Ponc successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Feliciano Fernendo hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. In the 75thth minute of the game Oliver Bierhoff who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Villa Mitre City's Ariel Ponc was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ariel Ponc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oliver Bierhoff in the 76th minute of the match. Saverio Regis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ariel Ponc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oliver Bierhoff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ariel Ponc came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by Los Delfines's Oliver Bierhoff. But to his dismay, Oliver Bierhoff quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. In the 91st minute, Long Yuan Di hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Oliver Bierhoff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Victor Jerrold hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Los Delfines eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
