Gomez Ayo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Gustavo Salamon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gomez Ayo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Faustino Lartaun hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. 21 minutes into the game, Diego Zalaca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Deportivo Santiago's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★ the free kick. After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Santiago's Diego Zalaca got a free kick in the 21st minute. Club Deportivo Santiago's Gomez Ayo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Club Deportivo Santiago from getting a goal against them. Cristo Mitxaut charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cristo Mitxaut the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gustavo Salamon in the 28thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gomez Ayo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Gerardo Sabin kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Gavino Orlan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zuberoa Mesia went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 41 minutes into the game, Club Deportivo Santiago's Zuberoa Mesia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gavino Orlan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Gomez Ayo was out of position in the 48 minute of play, and Gustavo Salamon capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gustavo Salamon really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Diego Zalaca made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Zuberoa Mesia reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gavino Orlan. The goal made the score 2-4. Evelio Terres in the 57thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gavino Orlan, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Zuberoa Mesia kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Pedro Loarte's late challenge caught a ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedro Loarte helped the player get up and apologised. Pedro Loarte hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. In the 73rd minute, Zuberoa Mesia reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gavino Orlan. The goal made the score 2-5. Gavino Orlan came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Deportivo Santiago's Zuberoa Mesia. But to his dismay, Zuberoa Mesia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-6. Gomez Ayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo Salamon in the 82nd minute of play. After 83 played minutes Club Deportivo Santiago got a freekick which was hit by Diego Zalaca. The supporters of Club Deportivo Santiago booed when ★ᴇꜱᴛᴜᴅɪᴀɴᴛᴇꜱ ᴅᴇ ʟᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴛᴀ★ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristo Mitxaut didn't get a good kick on the ball.
