But to his dismay, Richard Zedník quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Teodoro Peio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dávid Strelec's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. Teodoro Peio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Richard Zedník in the 27th minute of play. Teodoro Peio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richard Zedník, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 38th minute, Primitivo Mendez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Dávid Strelec had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, Atlético Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Dávid Strelec came free, but Teodoro Peio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute Richard Zedník shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teodoro Peio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Alberto Azevedo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match was over AFK Petržalka could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Atlético Nacional throughout the match.
