An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Geleberto in the 17th minute of play forced Penuel Football Club's goalkeeper Victorio Detres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rodrigo Rey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Piorno Bazarra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute Francisco Geleberto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victorio Detres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to ★Independiente Ψ★ getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Ermegildo Felipo hit a great ball. 33 minutes into the match, ★Independiente Ψ★'s goalkeeper Rodrigo Rey had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gaston Mielgo. Victorio Detres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teodosio Pudes, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. The supporters of ★Independiente Ψ★ booed when Penuel Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matías Almeyda didn't get a good kick on the ball. ★Independiente Ψ★'s Rodrigo Rey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save ★Independiente Ψ★ from getting a goal against them. In the 42nd minute, Baldomiro Bento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 47th minute, Jairo Patiño made a precise shot to the right of Rodrigo Rey. ★Independiente Ψ★'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Teodosio Pudes to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Silvio Fiz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ★Independiente Ψ★ and the Penuel Football Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to ★Independiente Ψ★ getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Silvio Fiz hit a great ball. Rodrigo Rey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Patiño in the 55th minute of play. Piorno Bazarra struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Rodrigo Rey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Penuel Football Club. Penuel Football Club's Fernando Cavenaghi was substituted for Goren Alva. Penuel Football Club made a substitution. Leopoldo Cero replaced Lesardo Masbernat. Rodrigo Rey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Macnelly Torres in the 70th minute of play. Rodrigo Rey came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Penuel Football Club's Fernando Cavenaghi. But to his dismay, Fernando Cavenaghi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The supporters of Penuel Football Club booed when ★Independiente Ψ★ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Inocencio Asteri didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ermegildo Felipo kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. After some careless play in the ★Independiente Ψ★ defense, Jairo Patiño kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rodrigo Rey. The ★Independiente Ψ★ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rodrigo Rey should have stopped the shot. 94 minutes into the game, Fernando Cavenaghi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Rodrigo Rey was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
