Cristo Lorencio in the 20thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rodolfo Quirino, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Cristo Lorencio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rodolfo Quirino. That made the score 1-0 in the 22 minute of play. Cristo Lorencio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 31 minutes into the match, Caatiba MZC's goalkeeper Rodolfo Quirino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristo Lorencio. In the 36th minute, Cristo Lorencio made a precise shot to the right of Rodolfo Quirino. Caatiba MZC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 39th match minute, El Retorno de Palermo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hilario Mikeldi to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th minute of the match Dinei Moraes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Modesto Olentzaro skillfully saved the ball. Benedito Domingues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Modesto Olentzaro having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Caatiba MZC's zone, Cristo Lorencio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rodolfo Quirino came out of the goal and Cristo Lorencio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Cristo Lorencio managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Retorno de Palermo's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristo Lorencio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rodolfo Quirino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Bernardo Illart made the kick off in the second half. Dinei Moraes went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Dinei Moraes got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Modesto Olentzaro quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 89th minute Bernardo Illart shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodolfo Quirino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rodolfo Quirino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristo Lorencio, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. When Cristo Lorencio came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the El Retorno de Palermo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristo Lorencio couldn't finish the play.
