With a little luck, Palermo AFC's Primitivo Jeraldo got control of the ball when André-Pierre Gignac tried to sneak it across the goal line. Palermo AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Jairo de Azevedo scored to the left of an out of position Primitivo Jeraldo, making the score, 1-0. Primitivo Jeraldo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jairo de Azevedo in the 25th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the match, Buenaventura FC's goal looked a bit too open when Artemio Pitin came free, but Toro Martínez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Primitivo Jeraldo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jairo de Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Palermo AFC getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Albano Ruisko hit a great ball. Primitivo Jeraldo was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Walter Bock. Toro Martínez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anselmo Astudillo in the 39th minute of play. In the 43rd minute Florencio Fix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toro Martínez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Toro Martínez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Palermo AFC's Primitivo Jeraldo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André-Pierre Gignac in the 55th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Artemio Pitin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Toro Martínez was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Walter Bock kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walter Bock in the 71st minute of play forced Palermo AFC's goalkeeper Primitivo Jeraldo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Primitivo Jeraldo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André-Pierre Gignac, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anselmo Astudillo hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Primitivo Jeraldo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Urane in the 77th minute of play. After 80 played minutes Palermo AFC got a freekick which was hit by Teo Barrionuevo. After some careless play in the Palermo AFC defense, André-Pierre Gignac kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Primitivo Jeraldo. The Palermo AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Primitivo Jeraldo should have stopped the shot. Buenaventura FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 87th minute, when Florencio Fix scored to the left of an out of position Toro Martínez, making the score, 2-3. The supporters of Buenaventura FC booed when Palermo AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Pitin didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Palermo AFC defense, André-Pierre Gignac kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Primitivo Jeraldo. The Palermo AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Primitivo Jeraldo should have stopped the shot. Albano Ruisko kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
