After some careless play in the Rio Percy defense, Cipriano Pombal kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gerardo Rius. The Rio Percy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gerardo Rius should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Paulo Jardel took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Gerardo Rius to make any attempt to save it. Geovanni Zonta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerardo Rius having to interfere. With a little luck, Rio Percy's Gerardo Rius got control of the ball when Cipriano Pombal tried to sneak it across the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

When Ramiro Umbruso fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rio Percy's protests and gave Ramiro Umbruso a yellow card for diving instead. In the 96th minute, Ramiro Umbruso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
