Henrique Linhares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Adérito Vilaça came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Rua da Pinga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adérito Vilaça couldn't finish the play. In the 18th minute, Paranhos Ariranha FC's Carlos Alberto de Amaral dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. After a defensive mix-up in Paranhos Ariranha FC's zone, Óscar Calado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilmar Soeiro came out of the goal and Óscar Calado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Rua da Pinga booed when Paranhos Ariranha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Douglas Mota didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Rua da Pinga's Joaquim Carvalhais got a free kick in the 30th minute. 32 minutes into the match, Rua da Pinga's goal looked a bit too open when Raimundo de Sousa came free, but Henrique Linhares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Humberto Ornelas in the 38th minute of play forced Paranhos Ariranha FC's goalkeeper Gilmar Soeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Douglas Mota fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Paranhos Ariranha FC's protests and gave Douglas Mota a yellow card for diving instead. In the 42nd minute, Higino Castro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gilmar Soeiro was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Gilmar Soeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Balsemão in the 47th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

In the 51st match minute, Rua da Pinga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvano Trigueiro to maneuver through the defense. Carlos Alberto de Amaral blasted a shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Henrique Linhares having to make a save. When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Nilton Alcântara put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of Henrique Linhares. In the 56th minute, Evaristo Moreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Douglas Mota was shown his second yellow card after 57 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Gilmar Soeiro had in the 59thth minute some difficulties stopping Adérito Vilaça's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After 67 minutes of play, Paranhos Ariranha FC's Carlos Alberto de Amaral made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Henrique Linhares was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 75th minute, Carlos Alberto de Amaral left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paranhos Ariranha FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-1. A collision led to Paranhos Ariranha FC getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Raimundo de Sousa hit a great ball. Gilmar Soeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Balsemão, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. The supporters of Paranhos Ariranha FC booed when Rua da Pinga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Higino Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball.
