Laércio Damião started the match with the kick off. 4 minutes into the match, Martin Palermo F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Gilvan Pombal came free, but Teodoro Eladio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Martin Palermo F.C.'s Teodoro Eladio got control of the ball when Gilvan Pombal tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 9 played minutes, Martin Palermo F.C.'s Aureliano Urbes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bebeto de Salles came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Martin Palermo F.C. reached it. União Verde FC were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Martin Palermo F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vladimir Motta took the corner. Vladimir Motta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Teodoro Eladio made a huge save. 16 minutes into the game, Nestor Lertxun cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Bebeto de Salles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Teodoro Eladio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ademir Guia in the 21st minute of the match. Teodoro Eladio was out of position in the 25 minute of play, and Gilvan Pombal capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gilvan Pombal really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Serafin Txeru might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bebeto de Salles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Serafin Txeru ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Filomeno Dino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Martin Palermo F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Filomeno Dino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bebeto de Salles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 36 minutes into the game, Laércio Damião recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Teodoro Eladio. Laércio Damião showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. União Verde FC's Bebeto de Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nestor Lertxun in the 40th minute of play. Bebeto de Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Lertxun in the 48th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

In the 57th match minute, Martin Palermo F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angelino Elia to maneuver through the defense. 59 minutes into the match, Laércio Damião had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Teodoro Eladio. Martin Palermo F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Laércio Damião was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Gilvan Pombal scored 4-1 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Teodoro Eladio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vladimir Motta, 65 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. A collision led to União Verde FC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Jorge Mendonça hit a great ball. 72 minutes into the match, Laércio Damião notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Martin Palermo F.C.'s Teodoro Eladio. Teodoro Eladio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Serafin Txeru might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bebeto de Salles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Serafin Txeru ran back to his position shaking his head. Nestor Lertxun's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Bebeto de Salles firmly grabbed it by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aureliano Urbes during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Martin Palermo F.C.'s Aureliano Urbes got a free kick in the 92nd minute. 95 minutes into the match, Martin Palermo F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Gilvan Pombal came free, but Teodoro Eladio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. União Verde FC fully deserved thier win.
