In the 22nd minute, Cordaro Viqueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Michel Duset took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xuaco Barro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Henrik Engström got his second yellow card in the match during the 42nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After the first half Atlético Maravilla were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Xuaco Barro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The ball had pretty good speed, but Michel Duset firmly grabbed it by the left post. 78 minutes into the game, Cordaro Viqueira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atlético Maravilla's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Asarum the free kick.
