Spectators: 155 (Terracing: 117, Seating: 35, VIP seats: 3) Genk's Maarten Belmans started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Maarten Belmans ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sven-Erik Nyström was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 11 minutes, Tony Ödman made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Genk's Manuel Nelis tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Roni Schrijns during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sven-Erik Nyström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maarten Belmans, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Egon Olsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Nelis having to interfere. After some careless play in the Lillhärdal BF defense, Seppe Van Hoovelt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sven-Erik Nyström. The Lillhärdal BF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sven-Erik Nyström should have stopped the shot. In the 42nd minute, Per-Åke Holmgren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sven-Erik Nyström came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Genk's Maarten Belmans. But to his dismay, Maarten Belmans quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. After having played for 48 minutes, Rolf Schoovaerts managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Genk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rolf Schoovaerts was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 1-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tony Ödman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 59 minutes into the game, Maarten Belmans recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sven-Erik Nyström. Maarten Belmans showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-5. After a rather tough play, Lillhärdal BF's Per-Arne Hansson got a free kick in the 62nd minute. In the 64th minute, Maarten Belmans got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Genk booed when Lillhärdal BF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petter Lund didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 75th minute, Seppe Van Hoovelt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Genk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. When Rolf Schoovaerts fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Genk's protests and gave Rolf Schoovaerts a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Genk's Rolf Schoovaerts got a free kick in the 87th minute. A collision led to Lillhärdal BF getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Per-Arne Hansson hit a great ball. Maarten Belmans could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Sven-Erik Nyström made a huge save. Maarten Belmans's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 96thth minute, Sven-Erik Nyström skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The Lillhärdal BF fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Genk were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
