Luisão Simões showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afriz Hian in the 38th minute of the match. Luisão Simões made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wei Xuan Chandran in the 41st minute of play. After some careless play in the PEÇONHENTO FC MG defense, Mujahid Teo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luisão Simões. The PEÇONHENTO FC MG fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luisão Simões should have stopped the shot.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elói Nogueira to make the kick off. 58 minutes into the match, Albirex Niigata FC's goal looked a bit too open when Vivaldo Pitta came free, but Daniel Chuan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
