Donato Lorenz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 8th minute of the match. In the 18th minute Angel Alvarenga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donato Lorenz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Sven-Edvin Jansson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Granate's Donato Lorenz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Granate from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, GuateFortín's Mario Gomez got a free kick in the 21st minute. Mario Gomez hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Sven-Edvin Jansson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Donato Lorenz made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sven-Edvin Jansson got free with Donato Lorenz in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Usko Ruuttu hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Donato Lorenz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sven-Edvin Jansson's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Luisito Estevon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Nery Pumpido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 44 minutes, Sven-Edvin Jansson made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Granate's Donato Lorenz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Christos Triantafyllou stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Granate's Nery Pumpido threw himself towards the right post 53 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Christos Triantafyllou, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Granate's Donato Lorenz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 56th minute of play. In the 60th match minute, GuateFortín was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angel Alvarenga to maneuver through the defense. The GuateFortín fans cheered their team off the field, for while Granate had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
