Pastor Gitano might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Branislav Velchevski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pastor Gitano ran back to his position shaking his head. Elpidio Francis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 28th minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Femke Bol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cássio Guimarães in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Branislav Velchevski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arnaldo Gabon got free with Femke Bol in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 38 minutes had been played when some careless play by Figueira SC FSCMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Everardo Cordarell was slow to take the kick. During this time ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Everardo Cordarell got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Femke Bol quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Timoteo Basualdo hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match.
