Elpidio Francis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nestor Cortez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Branislav Velchevski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xiao Xiang Ling, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Nestor Cortez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Gabon, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pavao Zadro made a kick off. Nestor Cortez came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis. But to his dismay, Elpidio Francis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Branislav Velchevski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimiro Millano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nestor Cortez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elpidio Francis in the 62nd minute of play. A collision led to Lobos de Carelia getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. After 85 played minutes Lobos de Carelia got a freekick which was hit by Serafino Venerando. After having played for 88 minutes, André Monclús managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's supporters crossed their fingers, but André Monclús was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 90th play minute André Monclús came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nestor Cortez. 2-5. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
