An unexpectedly hard shot by Serafim Simão in the 13th minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Aquiles Oihenarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aquiles Oihenarte didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nelsinho Marinho went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Nelsinho Marinho put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Aquiles Oihenarte. After 23 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Peder Neira. Rene Luzea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Carlos Cavalcante having to interfere. Serafim Simão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Teobaldo Milian stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teobaldo Milian, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute.
