When Castanheiro SC's Ronaldo Pinho in the 2nd minute got a chance for a shot 2nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Carlisle United's goalie prevented a goal. The audience was convinced that Ronaldo Pinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dion Jefferies was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. Castanheiro SC's Dagoberto de Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martyn Heslop in the 8th minute of play. After 11 minutes, Micheal Firth mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carlisle United and the Castanheiro SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 11 played minutes Carlisle United got a freekick which was hit by Micheal Firth. 14 minutes into the match, Carlisle United's goal looked a bit too open when Telmo da Fonseca came free, but Dion Jefferies reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Moura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dion Jefferies having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, Telmo da Fonseca notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Carlisle United's Dion Jefferies. Dion Jefferies was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 31st minute Telmo da Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dion Jefferies saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Castanheiro SC booed when Carlisle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ian Bastow didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 36th minute Ronaldo Pinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dion Jefferies saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dion Jefferies showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Telmo da Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zé Pedro Dionísio in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dion Jefferies prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Castanheiro SC's Ronaldo Pinho got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 45 played minutes Carlisle United got a freekick which was hit by Sammy Porter. Sebastião Paulista took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 46th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dion Jefferies. Carlisle United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dion Jefferies made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Pedro Dionísio in the 47th minute of play.

Dion Jefferies took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldo Pinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zé Pedro Dionísio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Dion Jefferies tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Castanheiro SC fans' excitement grew in the 61st match minute when Castanheiro SC's Ronaldo Pinho looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-6 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 63rdth minute of the game Ronaldo Pinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Carlisle United's Dion Jefferies was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 67 minutes into the match, Hugh Tyson notched a goal, 1-6, to the right of Castanheiro SC's Dagoberto de Queirós. Dagoberto de Queirós was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ronaldo Pinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronaldo Pinho in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dion Jefferies saved Carlisle United from getting behind. Carlisle United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 77th minute, when Telmo da Fonseca scored to the left of an out of position Dion Jefferies, making the score, 1-7. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ronaldo Pinho in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dion Jefferies prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dion Jefferies made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Pedro Dionísio in the 83rd minute. In the 83rd match minute, Castanheiro SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Pedro Dionísio to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Ronaldo Pinho put it in 1-8 from a short distance just to the right of Dion Jefferies. In the 95th minute of the match Martyn Heslop sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dagoberto de Queirós skillfully saved the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Castanheiro SC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
