After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Marcelo Eger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Castanheiro SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcelo Eger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kajetan Kossakowski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wlodzimierz Siwy hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 22nd match minute, Newcastle United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Barnaba Bentkowski to maneuver through the defense. After 25 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Zbigniew Kalinowski. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wlodzimierz Siwy in the 28th minute of play forced Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Doni Seco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Olaf Jestrimski hit a great ball. Newcastle United's goalkeeper was lucky when the ball hit the right post and out. When Luisinho Seco fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Castanheiro SC's protests and gave Luisinho Seco a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Castanheiro SC's Luisinho Seco got a free kick in the 35th minute. After 37 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Stanislaw Giertych. Kajetan Kossakowski stood somewhat misplaced when Marcelo Eger came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 40 minute. In the 44th minute Marcelo Eger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kajetan Kossakowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Kajetan Kossakowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Bezerra in the 52nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Newcastle United's Radowit Janiczek got a free kick in the 53rd minute. After 56 minutes of play, Castanheiro SC's Júnior Alagoano made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kajetan Kossakowski was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 59th match minute, Newcastle United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wlodzimierz Siwy to maneuver through the defense. Juliusz Milko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doni Seco having to interfere. After 67 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Gustaw Nuszkowski. In the 68th minute, Ronaldo Pinho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 70th match minute, Castanheiro SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luisinho Seco to maneuver through the defense. Olaf Jestrimski's late challenge caught a Castanheiro SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Olaf Jestrimski helped the player get up and apologised. In the 71st match minute, Newcastle United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olaf Jestrimski to maneuver through the defense. 74 minutes into the match, Mauro Sarmento had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kajetan Kossakowski. Newcastle United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mauro Sarmento was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. After some careless play in the Newcastle United defense, Marcelo Eger kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kajetan Kossakowski. The Newcastle United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kajetan Kossakowski should have stopped the shot. Serafim Cearense scored 7-0 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kajetan Kossakowski, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Marcelo Eger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kajetan Kossakowski having to interfere. 92 minutes into the match, Newcastle United's goal looked a bit too open when Mauro Sarmento came free, but Kajetan Kossakowski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 93 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Wlodzimierz Siwy. Marcelo Eger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Kajetan Kossakowski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There was no doubt that Castanheiro SC were the better team. Castanheiro SC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
