In the 15th minute Vito de Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldemar da Mata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Célio da Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the match, Red Dragon FC - DMZ's Leonardo de Queirós broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Xavi Čech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juninho Pernambucano in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Geraldo Sarmento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 30 minutes into the game, Cruzmaltinos FC - DMZ's Décio Salgado nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Xavi Čech made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The Cruzmaltinos FC - DMZ fans' excitement grew in the 33rd match minute when Cruzmaltinos FC - DMZ's Décio Salgado looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Cruzmaltinos FC - DMZ's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Válter Machado in the 39th minute. A well done corner resulted in Juninho Pernambucano drilling the ball in to score 0-3 behind Red Dragon FC - DMZ's goalkeeper. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vito de Carvalho was the one to do the kick off. Geraldo Sarmento could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Xavi Čech made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vladimir Rosa in the 57th minute of play forced Red Dragon FC - DMZ's goalkeeper Xavi Čech to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Cruzmaltinos FC - DMZ booed when Red Dragon FC - DMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danilo Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute of the match Válter Machado shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Xavi Čech showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 64th minute, Leonardo de Queirós ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Waldemar da Mata was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. Xavi Čech was a little too slow when Décio Salgado got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 67th minute. The score was now 2-4. Geraldo Sarmento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Xavi Čech tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Red Dragon FC - DMZ were furious when Alfredinho Garcia was red carded, 73 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 72 minutes into the game, one of Red Dragon FC - DMZ:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Cruzmaltinos FC - DMZ a penalty, 75 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Válter Machado, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Red Dragon FC - DMZ's Xavi Čech. 2-5. In the 78th minute, Vivaldo Barros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Waldemar da Mata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonardo de Queirós, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 82 minutes, Danilo Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Red Dragon FC - DMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Danilo Queirós was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Red Dragon FC - DMZ's Xavi Čech played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimir Rosa in the 84th minute of play. Vladimir Rosa hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Xavi Čech showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimir Rosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. When the final whistle sounded Cruzmaltinos FC - DMZ left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Red Dragon FC - DMZ.
