Sergio Basajaun went to the cornerflag to take it. 10 minutes into the match, Xulio Arvelo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nereo Raymon. Papulote FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Xulio Arvelo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 14 minutes into the game, Eduardo Navariega cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Nereo Raymon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cuenca S.C's Guillermo Pontones played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celso Errolan in the 20th minute of play. The supporters of Cuenca S.C booed when Papulote FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raul Gonsalve didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eduardo Navariega took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nereo Raymon. Nereo Raymon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. In the 34th minute, Xulio Arvelo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nereo Raymon was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Nereo Raymon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduardo Navariega, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Filiberto Eztebe hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arnoldo Gonzo to make the kick off. Nereo Raymon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armando Alamea in the 52nd minute of the match. Papulote FC's Nereo Raymon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Papulote FC from getting a goal against them. 65 minutes into the match, Papulote FC's goalkeeper Nereo Raymon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Xulio Arvelo. Nereo Raymon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Armando Alamea went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. When Arnoldo Gonzo came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Papulote FC fans jumped to their feet. Armando Alamea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Nereo Raymon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cuenca S.C's Eduardo Navariega got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nereo Raymon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Xulio Arvelo in the 88th minute. When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Eduardo Navariega took a quick shot and it went in 0-8 without a chance for Nereo Raymon to make any attempt to save it. Cuenca S.C's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
