An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurel Mustea in the 7th minute of play forced FC Buzău's goalkeeper Gheorghe Vărzaru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. -BZF- Petrolul Berca's Valer Bărăian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tudor Bosânceanu in the 8th minute of play. 11 minutes into the game, -BZF- Petrolul Berca's Andrei Marioara nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gheorghe Vărzaru made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Emilian Ciprian's late challenge caught a FC Buzău's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emilian Ciprian helped the player get up and apologised. After 16 played minutes -BZF- Petrolul Berca got a freekick which was hit by Emilian Ciprian. -BZF- Petrolul Berca's Valer Bărăian proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save -BZF- Petrolul Berca from getting a goal against them. In the 22nd minute, FC Buzău's Costel Dorineanu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Valer Bărăian made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ionel Lung in the 27th minute. A collision led to FC Buzău getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Cătălin Rogozea hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silviu Siniştean in the 31st minute of play forced FC Buzău's goalkeeper Gheorghe Vărzaru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Buzău's Gheorghe Vărzaru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marioara Miculescu in the 33rd minute of play. The supporters of -BZF- Petrolul Berca booed when FC Buzău was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mădălin Cârnațiu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andrei Marioara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gheorghe Vărzaru having to interfere. In the 44th minute Gelu Chivu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valer Bărăian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Andrei Marioara was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Costel Dorineanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valer Bărăian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 55th minute, Tudor Bosânceanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Valer Bărăian was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Gheorghe Vărzaru came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by -BZF- Petrolul Berca's Andrei Marioara. But to his dismay, Andrei Marioara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. 62 minutes into the game, FC Buzău's Costel Dorineanu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Valer Bărăian made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. The crowd rose to their feet as Aurel Mustea kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gheorghe Vărzaru. That made the score 4-3 in the 66 minute of play. After 71 played minutes FC Buzău got a freekick which was hit by Florin Barascu. Valer Bărăian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tudor Bosânceanu in the 79th minute of the match. When Liviu Hurmuz fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored -BZF- Petrolul Berca's protests and gave Liviu Hurmuz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 80th minute, Liviu Hurmuz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 91st minute, Tudor Bosânceanu made a precise shot to the right of Valer Bărăian. -BZF- Petrolul Berca's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-3. -BZF- Petrolul Berca's Valer Bărăian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tudor Bosânceanu in the 94th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. FC Buzău had won after a very even match.
