Olle Ekström was slow to take the kick. During this time IFK Göteborg's players had a chance to rest. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fábio Cardoso in the 16th minute of play forced IFK Göteborg's goalkeeper Bengt-Arne Dahlquist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Xipoko booed when IFK Göteborg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Javier Oskarbi didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Fábio Cardoso scored 0-4 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bengt-Arne Dahlquist, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Bengt-Arne Dahlquist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tostão Coelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bengt-Arne Dahlquist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fábio Cardoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Javier Oskarbi was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 44 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 43rd minute of the game. One of IFK Göteborg:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Xipoko:s goal.

Bengt-Arne Dahlquist came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Xipoko's Paulo Renato Moreira. But to his dismay, Paulo Renato Moreira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Bengt-Arne Dahlquist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuel Lira in the 57th minute of play. IFK Göteborg's Bengt-Arne Dahlquist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tostão Coelho in the 60th minute of play. 63 minutes into the game, Fábio Cardoso recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bengt-Arne Dahlquist. Fábio Cardoso showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-6. Bengt-Arne Dahlquist didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 68th minute, which inside left pole to 0-7. Mattias Kilman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Neves having to interfere. Bengt-Arne Dahlquist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tostão Coelho in the 73rd minute of the match. 77 minutes into the game, Samuel Lira recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bengt-Arne Dahlquist. IFK Göteborg's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Xipoko the free kick. After 81 played minutes IFK Göteborg got a freekick which was hit by Kjell Björnberg. In the 85th minute, Fábio Cardoso made a precise shot to the right of Bengt-Arne Dahlquist. IFK Göteborg's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-9. With an all-out effort, Xipoko's Bengt-Arne Dahlquist threw himself towards the right post 90 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Samuel Lira, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 91 played minutes IFK Göteborg got a freekick which was hit by Olle Ekström. Bengt-Arne Dahlquist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fábio Cardoso in the 92nd minute. Bengt-Arne Dahlquist made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Fábio Cardoso sent off a good shot on target.
