Clube Audax Metropolitano were furious when Carlos Alberto Parreira was red carded, 11 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Fernando Donatello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fabiano Cearense, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 16th minute, Rui Gaspar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fernando Donatello was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 18 minutes into the match, Bandeca FC's Caetano Azevedo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fernando Donatello narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 21 minutes into the game, Flávio Arósio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bandeca FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube Audax Metropolitano the free kick. After 21 played minutes Bandeca FC got a freekick which was hit by Flávio Arósio. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Ronaldinho Andrade couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Bandeca FC. Rui Gaspar hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Fernando Donatello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caetano Azevedo in the 27th minute of play. Kléberson Soeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alix Vance, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 36thth minute of the game Alix Vance who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bandeca FC's Kléberson Soeiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alix Vance scored 1-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kléberson Soeiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Hugo Calderona was substituted for Miguel Fontes.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rui Gaspar made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Clube Audax Metropolitano's Hugo Calderona ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kléberson Soeiro. Kléberson Soeiro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Kléberson Soeiro was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Hugo Calderona showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 56 minute of play. Bandeca FC's Arlindo de Carvalho was substituted for David Prestes. Kléberson Soeiro made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Hugo Calderona sent off a good shot on target. Flávio Arósio hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Matheus Torres was substituted for Wágner da Costa. The supporters of Clube Audax Metropolitano booed when Bandeca FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flávio Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alix Vance in the 67th minute of play forced Bandeca FC's goalkeeper Kléberson Soeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Rui Gaspar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fernando Donatello came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Bandeca FC's Fernando Banders. But to his dismay, Fernando Banders quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Kléberson Soeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Calderona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. During the 84th minute of the match Flávio Arósio completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Flávio Arósio a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 85 played minutes Bandeca FC got a freekick which was hit by Flávio Arósio. After 87 minutes, Márcio de Salles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bandeca FC and the Clube Audax Metropolitano players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 91st minute Hugo Calderona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléberson Soeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 93 minutes into the match, Bandeca FC's goalkeeper Kléberson Soeiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hugo Calderona. 94 minutes into the match, Bandeca FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Calderona came free, but Kléberson Soeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Bandeca FC's Kléberson Soeiro got control of the ball when Hugo Calderona tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Clube Audax Metropolitano had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
