EDI MZB's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cássio Porto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. INTER FC's Eulalio Darien played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caco Mota in the 36th minute of play. In the 42nd minute Marco Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luciano Matos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emerson Cruz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luciano Matos having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.
EDI MZB made a substitution. Hélio Baiano replaced Gustavo Souza. Evandro Maia's late challenge caught a INTER FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Evandro Maia helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of INTER FC booed when EDI MZB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evandro Maia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Teofil Pisarcik's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eulalio Darien read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Hélio Baiano kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. When Evandro Maia came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the EDI MZB fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evandro Maia couldn't finish the play. Luciano Matos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cássio Porto, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. 84 minutes into the game, Teofil Pisarcik cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Eulalio Darien was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luciano Matos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marco Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Seco in the 91st minute of play forced EDI MZB's goalkeeper Luciano Matos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 92 minutes, Albertinho Meireles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the INTER FC and the EDI MZB players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of EDI MZB booed when INTER FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albertinho Meireles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eulalio Darien acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 93rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Aníbal Velasco. When Fábio Alves fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored EDI MZB's protests and gave Fábio Alves a yellow card for diving instead. After 97 played minutes, INTER FC's Albertinho Meireles shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Luciano Matos came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in INTER FC reached it. For all the effort they put into the match, the EDI MZB players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for INTER FC.
