The supporters of A.A. Francana booed when Vascogoianiense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júnior Camargo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Márcio Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vascogoianiense FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Márcio Medeiros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Telmo Trigo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 45 minutes, Márcio Medeiros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vascogoianiense FC and the A.A. Francana players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 47th minute João Adolfo Leite shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Augusto Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hélder Trigo was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruy Fantini in the 51st minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th match minute, Vascogoianiense FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldão Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Ramos in the 56th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Augusto Peixoto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 79th minute, Evandro Mangueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 81st minute, Válbson Soeiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 83rd minute, one of A.A. Francana:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for A.A. Francana. Telmo Trigo went to the wrong direction when Hélder Trigo was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. 86 minutes into the game, Hélder Trigo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Telmo Trigo. Hélder Trigo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Márcio Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Trigo having to interfere. After 96 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldão Carvalho. When the referee ended the match the A.A. Francana players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
