The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Capivara FC getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Edvaldo Leal hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, A.A. Francana's Ruy Fantini got a free kick in the 11th minute. Edvaldo Leal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Trigo having to interfere. A collision led to Capivara FC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Glauco Aparecido hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, A.A. Francana's João Adolfo Leite got a free kick in the 17th minute. Telmo Trigo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luciano Pereira in the 23rd minute. 28 minutes into the match, Capivara FC's goal looked a bit too open when Arnaldo Ramos came free, but João Francisco Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Francana:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Capivara FC:s goal. A.A. Francana's João Adolfo Leite got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A.A. Francana's Telmo Trigo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Glauco Aparecido in the 43rd minute of play. João Francisco Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Adolfo Leite, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in A.A. Francana's zone, Edvaldo Leal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Trigo came out of the goal and Edvaldo Leal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Adolfo Leite to make the kick off. João Adolfo Leite recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, A.A. Francana's Denílson Leite got a free kick in the 63rd minute. In the 64th match minute, A.A. Francana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruy Fantini to maneuver through the defense. João Adolfo Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 69 minutes into the match, Capivara FC's goalkeeper João Francisco Viana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Adolfo Leite. In the 78th minute, Ruy Fantini hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 79 minutes into the game, Glauco Aparecido cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Telmo Trigo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A.A. Francana's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Capivara FC the free kick. Capivara FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
