An unexpectedly hard shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 16th minute of play forced E.C.Pelotas's goalkeeper Sobhy Paredes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sobhy Paredes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from German Cano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the E.C.Pelotas defense, German Cano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sobhy Paredes. The E.C.Pelotas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sobhy Paredes should have stopped the shot. After 27th play minutes Nestor Paraibano shot 0-4, a short shot which went by Sobhy Paredes and just under the crossbar into goal. Sobhy Paredes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Martins in the 31st minute of the match. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfonso Leon to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, one of Marquês de Herval:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Marquês de Herval. Dida Taffarel had in the 54thth minute some difficulties stopping Gerson Moraes's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 54 minutes into the game, Gerson Moraes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Dida Taffarel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sobhy Paredes made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Nestor Paraibano sent off a good shot on target. Nestor Paraibano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Sobhy Paredes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute German Cano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sobhy Paredes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Osvaldo de Carvalho made in the 70th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Marquês de Herval's Selami Rezan. Nestor Paraibano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sobhy Paredes having to interfere. Franz Anlohse tried in the 77th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Sobhy Paredes a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 1-5. Sobhy Paredes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nestor Paraibano in the 80th minute. In the 81st minute, E.C.Pelotas's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Nestor Paraibano fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. A collision led to E.C.Pelotas getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Wilhelm Rolfsson hit a great ball. Nestor Paraibano struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Sobhy Paredes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marquês de Herval. Nestor Paraibano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sobhy Paredes having to interfere. German Cano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sobhy Paredes having to interfere. The supporters of Marquês de Herval booed when E.C.Pelotas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Marinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marquês de Herval played a much better game than E.C.Pelotas and deserved their victory. The E.C.Pelotas players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
