In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind Toronto United's goalkeeper Kauã Paranaense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 54th minute of the match Velez Sarsfield got a corner. Toronto United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Filomeno Montrell ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Velez Sarsfield's corner Ronan Mistral fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Kauã Paranaense quite easily take care of the ball. When Augusto Cordario got free in front of the goal in the 56th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Kauã Paranaense was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. When Augusto Cordario came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Velez Sarsfield fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Cordario couldn't finish the play. Kauã Paranaense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filomeno Montrell, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Lou Walker's late challenge caught a Velez Sarsfield's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kauã Paranaense came out of the goal and Augusto Cordario tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 74 played minutes Toronto United got a freekick which was hit by Leon Brand. After 75 played minutes, Velez Sarsfield's Filomeno Montrell shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Kauã Paranaense came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Velez Sarsfield reached it. In the 80th minute, Augusto Cordario ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kauã Paranaense was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-1. Velez Sarsfield's Erwin Huygens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Velez Sarsfield from getting a goal against them. Kauã Paranaense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ago Tramp in the 90th minute of the match. 91 minutes into the match, Toronto United's goal looked a bit too open when Augusto Cordario came free, but Kauã Paranaense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A well done corner resulted in Augusto Cordario drilling the ball in to score 6-1 behind Toronto United's goalkeeper.
