In the 3rd minute, one of BOTAFOGO:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for BOTAFOGO. Édouard Deloge's late challenge caught a Alvi Verde's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Édouard Deloge helped the player get up and apologised. After 8 played minutes BOTAFOGO got a freekick which was hit by Édouard Deloge. Cuero Buseth received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Alfonso Taraborrelli came out and tried to block the shot, but Cuero Buseth slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 10th minute. Alfonso Taraborrelli made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cuero Buseth in the 12th minute. Cuero Buseth scored 2-0 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alfonso Taraborrelli, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alfonso Taraborrelli came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Alvi Verde's Cuero Buseth. But to his dismay, Cuero Buseth quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. If Cuero Buseth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. BOTAFOGO's Alfonso Taraborrelli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cuero Buseth in the 33rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Édouard Deloge in the 39th minute of play forced Alvi Verde's goalkeeper Téo Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cuero Buseth struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Alfonso Taraborrelli didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alvi Verde. After 42 played minutes Alvi Verde got a freekick which was hit by Almir Alagoano. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cuero Buseth was the one to do the kick off. After 52 minutes, Claudinei Sanches mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the BOTAFOGO and the Alvi Verde players grew even worse after the yellow card. BOTAFOGO's Alfonso Taraborrelli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cuero Buseth in the 53rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cuero Buseth in the 55th minute of play forced BOTAFOGO's goalkeeper Alfonso Taraborrelli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cuero Buseth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Alfonso Taraborrelli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to BOTAFOGO getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Claudinei Sanches hit a great ball. If William Kristiansson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alvi Verde were awarded a corner in the 62th minute after BOTAFOGO's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Wilbert Ugalde took the corner. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilbert Ugalde in the 68th minute of play forced BOTAFOGO's goalkeeper Alfonso Taraborrelli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Claudinei Sanches hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Alvi Verde's Rodolfo Perfecto was substituted for Cuero Buseth. In the 70th minute, Claudinei Sanches hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alvi Verde's Rodolfo Perfecto got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alfonso Taraborrelli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodolfo Perfecto, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind BOTAFOGO's goalkeeper Alfonso Taraborrelli, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Téo Leite made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaanek Oese in the 81st minute of play. 83 minutes into the game, Alvi Verde's Wilbert Ugalde nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alfonso Taraborrelli made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Rodolfo Perfecto put it in 8-0 from a short distance just to the right of Alfonso Taraborrelli. 94 minutes into the match, Rodolfo Perfecto notched a goal, 9-0, to the right of BOTAFOGO's Alfonso Taraborrelli. Alfonso Taraborrelli was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
