After 22 minutes of play, Internacional's Laércio de Andrade made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcelinho Paulista was left in no man's land by his defense there! Marcelinho Paulista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laércio de Andrade in the 28th minute of play. Benet Rano kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Laércio de Andrade's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcelinho Paulista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. After 39 played minutes Guatitlan got a freekick which was hit by Richard Machado. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio de Andrade in the 40th minute of play forced Guatitlan's goalkeeper Marcelinho Paulista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

In the 51st minute, Laércio de Andrade left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Internacional fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-6. 54 minutes into the match, Internacional's Laércio de Andrade sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcelinho Paulista narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Marcelinho Paulista had in the 77thth minute some difficulties stopping Laércio de Andrade's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 81st minute Andre Fontoria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geronimo Rulli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcelinho Paulista stood somewhat misplaced when Benet Rano came free in front of goal and shot 0-8 to the left of him in the 82 minute. Guatitlan made a substitution. Juan Iigo replaced Valeriu Timaru. In the 87th minute, Andre Fontoria made a precise shot to the right of Geronimo Rulli. Internacional's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-8. After 91 minutes of play, Internacional's Evaristo Costa made it 1-9 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcelinho Paulista was left in no man's land by his defense there! Internacional played a much better game than Guatitlan and deserved their victory. The Guatitlan players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
