After some careless play in the Maitros FC defense, Sven-Edvin Jansson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alvaro Baptista. The Maitros FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alvaro Baptista should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Erick Palencia kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nery Pumpido. That made the score 1-2 in the 9 minute of play. Alvaro Baptista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 13th minute of play. When Odir Contrera fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maitros FC's protests and gave Odir Contrera a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Maitros FC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Odir Contrera hit a great ball. Nery Pumpido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Pimentel in the 18th minute of play. GuateFortín's Sven-Edvin Jansson got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sven-Edvin Jansson struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Alvaro Baptista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GuateFortín. The supporters of GuateFortín booed when Maitros FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rolando Ribeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd match minute, Maitros FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nelson Navas to maneuver through the defense. 34 minutes into the match, Maitros FC's goal looked a bit too open when Angel Alvarenga came free, but Alvaro Baptista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alvaro Baptista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute GuateFortín were awarded a corner. Angel Alvarenga went to the cornerflag to take it. After 38 minutes of play, GuateFortín's Sven-Edvin Jansson made it 1-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alvaro Baptista was left in no man's land by his defense there! 41 minutes into the match, Sven-Edvin Jansson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alvaro Baptista. Maitros FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sven-Edvin Jansson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-6. Alvaro Baptista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 46th minute of play. Angel Alvarenga charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Angel Alvarenga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, GuateFortín's Angel Alvarenga got a free kick in the 47th minute. After the first half GuateFortín were leading 1-6. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and David Pimentel made a kick off. In the 54thth minute of the game Thierry Henry who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maitros FC's Alvaro Baptista was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thierry Henry blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alvaro Baptista having to make a save. In the 59thth minute of the game Thierry Henry who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maitros FC's Alvaro Baptista was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Maitros FC's zone, Thierry Henry stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alvaro Baptista came out of the goal and Thierry Henry tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. GuateFortín made a substitution. Severo Rameriz replaced Stanyo Búnkov. GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arturo Mendez in the 64th minute of play. In the 74th minute Thierry Henry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Baptista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 75th minute, GuateFortín's Thierry Henry ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Alvaro Baptista. Alvaro Baptista yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-8. In the 79th minute, Thierry Henry left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GuateFortín fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-9. 82 minutes into the game, one of Maitros FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. With his leg Alvaro Baptista managed to avoid a goal in the 87thth minute, when GuateFortín's Thierry Henry fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When GuateFortín's Thierry Henry in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Maitros FC's goalie prevented a goal. With a little luck, Maitros FC's Alvaro Baptista got control of the ball when William Villanueva tried to sneak it across the goal line. Angel Alvarenga made a great header on GuateFortín's corner, it was just that Maitros FC's Alvaro Baptista managed to reach the ball for a save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. GuateFortín had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
