The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Aleksey Evdokimov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Malcolm McKechnie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vladimir Burov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Malcolm McKechnie having to interfere. Vladimir Burov who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 14thth minute tested the skills of Malcolm McKechnie when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's Gennadiy Semin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kenny Higginson in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Theo McLagan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aleksey Evdokimov might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Malcolm McKechnie. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aleksey Evdokimov ran back to his position shaking his head. Vladimir Burov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Malcolm McKechnie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vladimir Burovs short, quick shot in the 27thth minute got Malcolm McKechnie to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Kenny Higginson scored 1-1 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gennadiy Semin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vladimir Burov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Malcolm McKechnie made a huge save. Gennadiy Semin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theo McLagan in the 36th minute of play. In the 36th minute, Theo McLagan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tranent City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 41st minute, Vladimir Burov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's Pavel Alov in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tranent City's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Theo McLagan in the 45th minute of play forced Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's goalkeeper Gennadiy Semin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sergey Ivanov during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sergey Ivanov hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. After 47 minutes, Kenny Higginson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tranent City and the Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Tranent City getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Kenny Higginson hit a great ball. After the first half Tranent City were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the match clock showed 56 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Pavel Alov sped through Tranent City's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Malcolm McKechnie. After some careless play in the Tranent City defense, Vladimir Burov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Malcolm McKechnie. The Tranent City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Malcolm McKechnie should have stopped the shot. Gennadiy Semin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Theo McLagan, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Tranent City's Malcolm McKechnie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vladimir Burov in the 67th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Tranent City's zone, Vladimir Burov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Malcolm McKechnie came out of the goal and Vladimir Burov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's Vladimir Burov in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tranent City's goalie prevented a goal. When Sergey Ivanov was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 73 minutes had been played. A collision led to Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Sergey Ivanov hit a great ball. After 77 minutes of play, Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's Vladimir Burov made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Malcolm McKechnie was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Vladimir Burov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vladimir Burov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Malcolm McKechnie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Vladimir Burov came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vladimir Burov couldn't finish the play. 92 minutes into the match, Vladimir Burov had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Malcolm McKechnie. Tranent City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vladimir Burov was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-2. After 95 played minutes Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC got a freekick which was hit by Andrey Lysenko. Theo McLagan struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Gennadiy Semin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tranent City. Leninsk-Kuznetsky FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
