The audience thought a goal was coming when Sulo Montaña got free with Georgi Velinov in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 29thth minute of the game Sulo Montaña who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC CSKA's Georgi Velinov was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 35 minutes into the match, FC CSKA's goal looked a bit too open when Sulo Montaña came free, but Georgi Velinov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute, Özgür Özbay got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ahmet Refik Ülgü sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A hard shot 44 in the game by Özgür Özbay from a close distance when the talented Georgi Velinov managed to make a qualified save. FC CSKA's players were relieved. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sulo Montaña to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in FC CSKA's zone, Sulo Montaña stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Georgi Velinov came out of the goal and Sulo Montaña tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sulo Montaña in the 55th minute of play forced FC CSKA's goalkeeper Georgi Velinov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Georgi Velinov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Özgür Özbay, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Ahmet Refik Ülgü in the 58thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of George Buturugã, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The FC CSKA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Georgi Velinov should have stopped the shot. George Buturugã took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnulfo Roderigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
