With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eric McThomas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Chris Draxl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paul Jöckel in the 54th minute of the match. Eric McThomas made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Alexandros Matsinopoulos sent off a good shot on target. 60 minutes into the match, FC Jena-Nord 02's goalkeeper Eric McThomas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alexandros Matsinopoulos. Alexandros Matsinopoulos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eric McThomas having to make a save. Chris Draxl made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-6. 84 minutes into the match, Eike Hörtnagel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eric McThomas. FC Jena-Nord 02's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eike Hörtnagel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-7. In the 86th minute of the match, Nereo Rik got a very nice opportunity to score, but Eric McThomas was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Eike Hörtnagel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eric McThomas having to make a save. Eric McThomas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eike Hörtnagel, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Chris Frieters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eric McThomas came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by SK Fenerbahce Wien's Eike Hörtnagel. But to his dismay, Eike Hörtnagel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-8. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SK Fenerbahce Wien walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
