The audience thought a goal was coming when Octavio Gonzo got free with Rui Santos in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With his leg Rui Santos managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when Rafaela FC's Octavio Gonzo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Rui Santos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Gitano in the 22nd minute of play forced Rafaela FC's goalkeeper Inocencio Veronica to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rui Santos was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

For all the effort they put into the match, the Atlético Zelaya players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Rafaela FC.
