With an all-out effort, Greenboys FC's Ronnie Hellström threw himself towards the right post 13 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Zsolt Füzesi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Zsolt Füzesi spun around in front of the goal 13 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Skövde AIK's goal. Greenboys FC's Danilo Vaz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Keegan in the 16th minute of play. Ronnie Hellström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Róbert Kutas in the 17th minute of play. Ronnie Hellström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Róbert Kutas, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ronnie Hellström prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Greenboys FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Iurie Croitoru in the 36th minute. Kurt Hamrin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo Vaz having to interfere. The Greenboys FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Skövde AIK were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chen Ao Fan was the one to do the kick off. If Kevin Keegan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
