The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Teobaldo Milian's late challenge caught a Gremio Viana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Teobaldo Milian helped the player get up and apologised. In the 4th minute, Teobaldo Milian hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Gremio Viana's Óscar Caldas got a free kick in the 5th minute. Eurico Figueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teobaldo Milian, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. The audience was convinced that Pedro Rojelio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eurico Figueira was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. In the 11th minute Teobaldo Milian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eurico Figueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Manuel Fernandes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Aquiles Oihenarte. The goal made the score 1-0. Adélio Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Aquiles Oihenarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Club Atlético Atlanta's Teobaldo Milian got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Gremio Viana getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Zeferino Sacadura hit a great ball. If Filipe Quinaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adelino Gama received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Aquiles Oihenarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Filipe Quinaz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aquiles Oihenarte having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Manuel Fernandes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Aquiles Oihenarte. The goal made the score 2-0. A collision led to Club Atlético Atlanta getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Wilfredo Gaxan hit a great ball.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manuel Fernandes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Club Atlético Atlanta booed when Gremio Viana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adélio Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 55 minutes, Teobaldo Milian managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Atlético Atlanta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teobaldo Milian was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wilfredo Gaxan kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. After 57 played minutes Club Atlético Atlanta got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Rojelio. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Rojelio got free with Eurico Figueira in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 61st minute, Pedro Rojelio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pedro Rojelio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aquiles Oihenarte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Eurico Figueira made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Teobaldo Milian sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filipe Quinaz in the 73rd minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Aquiles Oihenarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético Atlanta's Pedro Rojelio got a free kick in the 75th minute. Wilfredo Gaxan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eurico Figueira having to interfere. 82 minutes into the game, Filipe Quinaz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Aquiles Oihenarte was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Teobaldo Milian took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Eurico Figueira to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, Gremio Viana's Diego Cabral got a free kick in the 90th minute. When Teobaldo Milian came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Club Atlético Atlanta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Teobaldo Milian couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd minute, Fabian Guter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Teobaldo Milians short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Eurico Figueira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Gremio Viana were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Club Atlético Atlanta for a fine match.
