With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mira Pene prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mira Pene was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 29 minutes into the game, Joaquim Paredes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Mira Pene was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denis Rivas in the 32nd minute of play forced Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joaquim Paredes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mira Pene read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. In the 36th minute of the match Gremio Viana got a corner. Paso FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

For all the effort they put into the match, the Paso FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Gremio Viana.
