The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Hoberg United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benny Bus didn't get a good kick on the ball. Saturnino Curcio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Dida Martins made a huge save. Saturnino Curcio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Dida Martins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Carlo Crema fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting de Gijón's protests and gave Carlo Crema a yellow card for diving instead. In the 19th match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlo Crema to maneuver through the defense. Óscar Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Balázs Sebes in the 25th minute of play. Óscar Cordoba didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Balázs Sebes went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. If Alejandro Rufo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Balázs Sebes in the 29th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Balázs Sebes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlo Crema made in the 36th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Hoberg United's Jaroslaw Teofila. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matias Bilintx got free with Dida Martins in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 45 minutes into the game, Hoberg United's Cintya Palacios nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Óscar Cordoba made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Balázs Sebes was the one to do the kick off. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Sporting de Gijón from getting a goal against them. In the 52nd minute Balázs Sebes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óscar Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cintya Palacios recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Venancio Emesto replaced Alejandro Rufo. Hoberg United's Jimmi Imtiaz was substituted for Maximiliano Rutenio. 58 minutes into the game, Venancio Emesto threw the ball into play from the sideline. Hoberg United's Louis Bullock quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cintya Palacios in the 61st minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 64th minute, Cintya Palacios ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Óscar Cordoba was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 67 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Balázs Sebes came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Óscar Cordoba made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cintya Palacios in the 69th minute. Sporting de Gijón's Mario Zanabria was substituted for Saturnino Curcio. After a rather tough play, Hoberg United's Louis Bullock got a free kick in the 71st minute. 74 minutes into the match, Hoberg United's Cintya Palacios sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Óscar Cordoba narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sporting de Gijón's Atilano Feo was substituted for Carlo Crema. In the 77th minute of the game Niceto Dominix made a throw-in which Venancio Emesto played forward. A sloppy throw-in by Niceto Dominix in the 84th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Hoberg United's Jaroslaw Teofila. Óscar Cordoba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cintya Palacios in the 87th minute of the match. In the 92nd minute, Hoberg United's Cintya Palacios ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Óscar Cordoba. Óscar Cordoba yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Balázs Sebes, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Hoberg United's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
