The throw-in from Davi Cunha in the 16th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Brothers of Mercy's Kieran Robertson. 18 minutes into the match, MDS Soccer Club's goal looked a bit too open when Mats Elg came free, but Artur Romero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brothers of Mercy's Alexandre Pires played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erivaldo Severo in the 19th minute of play. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind MDS Soccer Club's goalkeeper Artur Romero, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 25 minutes, Ernani de Toledo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MDS Soccer Club and the Brothers of Mercy players grew even worse after the yellow card. MDS Soccer Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Erivaldo Severo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexandre Pires breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Brothers of Mercy's Bengt-Rune Strömbom got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ulf Öfverman in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Artur Romero prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bengt-Rune Strömbom made a kick off. If Bengt-Rune Strömbom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 58 played minutes MDS Soccer Club got a freekick which was hit by Fernando Jacinto. Mats Elg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Brothers of Mercy's Ulf Öfverman in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 80 minutes of play, MDS Soccer Club's José Maria Mineiro made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alexandre Pires was left in no man's land by his defense there! After having played for 82 minutes, Erivaldo Severo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. MDS Soccer Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erivaldo Severo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulf Öfverman in the 84th minute of play forced MDS Soccer Club's goalkeeper Artur Romero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 87 minutes into the match, MDS Soccer Club's goalkeeper Artur Romero had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Erramu Chute. After 88 minutes MDS Soccer Club's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Thiago van Dijk who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Thiago van Dijk got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Artur Romero quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a rather tough play, Brothers of Mercy's Dan Björk got a free kick in the 90th minute. Alexandre Pires took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cleiton Paraíba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 93 minutes into the match, Erivaldo Severo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alexandre Pires. Brothers of Mercy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erivaldo Severo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
