Prudencio Polentzi's late challenge caught a Club El Progreso's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 3 played minutes Sportivo Luan Toro got a freekick which was hit by Prudencio Polentzi. 10 minutes into the game, one of Club El Progreso:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Club El Progreso:s Juan Vergaray showed great skill when he stopped Muhammad Ali:s penalty. After 13 played minutes Sportivo Luan Toro got a freekick which was hit by Lino Gerazan. Juan Vergaray made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Muhammad Ali in the 19th minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Muhammad Ali made a precise shot to the right of Juan Vergaray. Club El Progreso's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Artemio Hegoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gabriel Arias having to interfere. Juan Vergaray didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Muhammad Ali went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 42 minutes into the game, Lino Gerazan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sportivo Luan Toro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club El Progreso the free kick. After a rather tough play, Sportivo Luan Toro's Lino Gerazan got a free kick in the 42nd minute. 47 minutes into the match, Sportivo Luan Toro's goal looked a bit too open when Ignacio Ebere came free, but Gabriel Arias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Sportivo Luan Toro were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Juan Vergaray took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Muhammad Ali, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Juan Vergaray showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Muhammad Ali in the 65th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Muhammad Ali during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Club El Progreso booed when Sportivo Luan Toro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Muhammad Ali didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Sportivo Luan Toro players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
