Dacian Ghițescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 34 minutes of play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Golo Phoenix made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ion Chificeac was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nistor Vermeşan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's zone, Felix Mihăilescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ion Chificeac came out of the goal and Felix Mihăilescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ion Chificeac prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With an all-out effort, Batalionul U23 Dorobanti's Dacian Ghițescu threw himself towards the right post 69 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sabin Panciu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Dacian Ghițescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boro Doro in the 73rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Nistor Vermeşan got a free kick in the 74th minute. Ion Chificeac showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgil Jupân, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. After 78 minutes, Boro Doro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Batalionul U23 Dorobanti and the PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 78th match minute, Batalionul U23 Dorobanti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boro Doro to maneuver through the defense. Ion Chificeac took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nistor Vermeşan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
